This bespoke order for a Handmade Silver Full Moon & 9ct Gold Sun necklace, was commissioned by a regular customer looking for a symbolic piece of jewellery, as a special keepsake to celebrate their granddaughter Eva’s 1st Birthday.
Eva was born during the total solar eclipse of March 2015 and with the family’s shared interest in astronomy, the idea for this piece was formed.
Following a design consultation, a solar eclipse design was agreed upon, to be made using unworn gold jewellery including a diamond ring, belonging to Elaine. We remodelled the gold and reset the diamond to make this unique one-off Sun & Moon necklace.
The handmade silver full moon was given a hammered finish to resemble the textured surface of the moon, then given a light patina as an added highlight. While the 9ct gold sun was handcut then given a highly polished finish.
To be born during a total solar eclipse is such a special, extraordinary moment, making this bespoke and unique piece of meaningful jewellery the perfect symbolic gift!
